Over the weekend I received 628 junk mails!

Yes, my Matador Junk Mail trapper caught them but I still have to check them in case someone to whom I just recently gave one of my business cards is emailing me.  Now I will have new business cards made with the new email address and my emails will drop considerably because I will only look at those that come in to bert@wasoc.com.

I am told the only way I can combat the scammers is to completely change my email address.

Someone ... in government ... HAS to do something about spam.  I am being forced to change my email address in order to not be deluged with offers for everything from low interest loans ... to drugs ... to offers concerning someone who wants to date me (which is most interesting since I married my high school sweetheart 42 years ago and, at 61 years of age, I am no longer the "catch" I was when I was 19) ... (actually, if you saw me back then you would wonder if such a geeky looking guy would ever "catch" anything but a cold.)

I have wondered how much time/money Corporate America is wasting with this problem.  I think there should be a law similar to the one we have for telephone solicitors.  Make the offenders pay if they violate the statute.  After all, how much Viagra can one person use?

• I and I'm sure everyone you sent this to empathizes with you!  We do need to do something to stop this insidious spam scam!
• Maybe you should be the one telling us how much Viagra one person can use?
• Got the new email, thanks.  I have been contemplating changing mine, usually get about 150 each night.
• Your e-mail was GREAT.  Someone needs to pay attention to the e-mail junk problem.  And I enjoyed the humor in your message.  You might want to think about the Viagra, however.  It's useful as you get older because it'll help keep you from rolling out of bed at night.  (Think about it).
• Surely you were joking here.  There are very very very few things that
  the federal gov't should be responsible for and spam problems are
  definitely not one of them.   :-)

• I too resist change and sometimes resent the intrusion into my privacy by strangers trying to sell me something I neither want nor need (Viagra, Home loans, Printer toner…………….).  I would not take their sales calls, so why do I have to deal with their incessant emails.  Who are  “they”? I suppose there is a price to pay for convenience.

• Some more than others....I share your frustration but I have to hand it to AOL.  They have virtually eliminated spam for me.  If I get three a week that's unusual.
